Just a little daydreamin' girl who feels a little bit awkward in her high school world
She’s singin her songs, she's getting high, striking conversation from time to time
She reminds me of me in some ways, she reminds me of me when I was her age
God I hope she knows there’s someone down the hall who loves her very much
Who busts his knuckles every day of the week
So that she might enjoy the finer things he didn’t have growing up
And it scares us all sometimes to think that for one second that she doesn’t believe
She could be anything that she wants
A stargazer at night behind her locked door with her CD’s and her black light
She lies there with a dream of being something so big
Her mother wished she would've stuck around to see
In all of her pictures she wears a smile
But I’m afraid she only wears it just for a little while
God I hope she knows there’s someone down the hall who loves her very much
Who busts his knuckles every day of the week
So that she might enjoy the finer things he didn’t have growing up
And it scares us all sometimes to think that for one second that she doesn’t believe
That she could be anything that she wants
In her eyes life moves so fast, nothing she does is good enough and nothing ever lasts
So many things she’d love to change, so much guilt, so much doubt and there's so many things to blame
What she must see when the lights go out, how she must feel when no one else is around
God I hope she knows there’s someone down the hall who loves her very much
Who busts his knuckles everyday of the week so that she might enjoy the finer things he didn’t have growing up
And it scares us all sometimes to think
Oh, it scares us all sometimes to think
That for one second she doesn’t believe she could be anything that she wants
