Travis Russell, lead singer and guitarist, attributes his innate love of music to his ancestry, his grandfather. He could play any stringed instrument and could sing just as well. "I wasn't born then, but I've heard stories about his talent," said Travis. Polly Russell, Travis' mom, said her father was called many times to play for major recording artists when they came into town without a band in tow. She also said that he would be very proud to see Travis, who resembles him on stage

Travis was first bitten by the music bug as a youngster while listening to his treasured CD's. During high school, he considered a sports career in basketball or golf but said that God blessed him with a passion for music, instead of height, and the music began to overshadow everything else. Now fans see him as a musical giant. He has his own style so you know it's Gabby Johnson when Travis is singing

Travis enjoys any kind of music that sounds "good" including classic rock, pop, country, reggae, and Otis Redding, James Taylor, Robert Plant and Merle Haggard are among his favorite recording artists

Travis is a zealous songwriter and says his greatest satisfaction in life is to complete a song. He says his songs are usually personal but wants to begin writing more for the hook that a listener won't easily forget. Of his originals, "All for You," a newly written, up-tempo tune, is his favorite

Like the rest of the band, Travis has a natural gift of wit. After being together almost six years, these guys still enjoy each other's company even when not at a gig. It's like they have the same mind-set and catch each other's jokes when no one else does. Travis is a creative storyteller, you start believing him then he laughs at your gullibility

When not performing, Travis plays golf, works out and shoots pool. Travis, a versatile young man, also wants to learn to play the sax because he says he "loves" the sound of it. The girls swoon over his short haircut and say it shows off those beautiful sky-blue eyes

Wayne and Polly Russell, Travis' parents, are great influences on him, he says. "They tell me how blessed I am to have a job that I love." He says he is thankful for his family, his musical opportunity and for the rest of the band that he respects both musically and personally. When he's on stage, singing for the fans, he says he feels the connection, and that's what it's all about, transcending that love of music. He muses, "Feel the love. Feel the love."
